You have a great out look on disabilities and throughout your presentation you made it clear. You were able to keep my attention and had just the right amount of humor.
I have never met anyone who is so comfortable with their disability the way Jon is. He taught me so much through his actions and his personality. Jon is very open mined and has such a spark and light within him. He has a great way of making his audience comfortable with their own fears of disabilities...and for me he broke down all my stereotypes of disabled people. Thanks Jon.
I thought you were hilarious. You kept my interest the entire time. I love your attitude towards your disability.
Thought it was awesome...very very good job. I loved the humorous stories and it was great how well you could relate to us. It was wonderful how open you were so open. Very wonderful job!!
I was very impressed in the way Jon came across to all of the students. He was very open minded and seemed to love life for what it was, not what it wasn't. I laughed almost the whole time and really enjoyed the spirit in which he did his presentation. Jon is a very powerful man and has a lot going for him. If I have the chance I would defiantly sit through another presentation. Thank you for your time, and good luck with the rest of your life.
Enjoyed the stories and had a good laugh. I found it interesting and educational. Great sense of humor, would love to get to know you.
The presentation was great! Very enlightening and entertaining. I liked the way Jonathan used stories to tell about himself as a person living with a disability. It was also refreshing to hear from a speaker who views his disability in such a positive way. Great job Jonathan.
He came in to speak during my Psychology of Physical Disabilities class on Grand Valley's campus. He made us laugh and see the lighter side of living with a disability. Even though all people are different he laughs at himself and talks about all of the "stupid" things that he does. He related to us as college students which showed a comparison between him and us, how much alike we are. Overall it was a very good speech that made us laugh and also think seriously about disabilities.
Jon is an amazing guy. The way he conveyed his ideas about his disability to our class was amazing. He took a sensitive subject, disability, and turned it into a light conversation that had us laughing all period long. Thanks Jon
The presentation allowed me to look at disabilities in a different light. Jon was able to pull me, along with the audience, into how he dealt with his disability. He showed how he will and does not let anything get in his way of being who he really is inside. Overall, I really enjoyed the information presented and Jon's personal stories. Everything was amazing!
You’re a really good speaker. I never really thought about disabilities or people with them in the way you spoke of. I guess I always just associated disabilities with the stereotypes. I'm really glad you spoke to our class. I took a lot out of what you do and I'm really glad that you are comfortable with yourself. I know a lot of people without disabilities that aren’t' as comfortable as you are. It's very refreshing. Keep speaking to students; you convey a very important message
I thought that the presentation was awesome. It really made me think more about how living with a disability really is through the eyes of Jon. I had a really good time and I enjoyed how Jon was funny instead of just expelling fact after fact; the presentation was a good time for everyone
All my life I've been told that people with a disability are people like everyone else. But I'd never really had the chance to see it. He brought out a new perspective that made sure that humanity was established in people with disabilities in the eyes of the beholder. Great speaker and very light hearted. He knows very well what he's talking about.
I absolutely loved your presentation. I have never encountered anyone who was more comfortable in their own shoes with a disability. I think it's fabulous that you are able to make light of yours. I also think it's fantastic that you speak to people about it to help those who aren't familiar with disabilities more aware. Everything you said has definitely made me change my perspectives. I wish you nothing but the best!
Inspiring is a word that does not even come close to what Jon is but that is because there is so many that can describe his life. He came to speak to my Liberal Education class while we were studying ableism and he spoke about his life.
I think there's a stereotype that society and I both bought into about a person with a disability, that they were constantly working to be "normal" in spite of their disability.
I thought that it was very good. He did a great job and I think that it will show kids how other disabilities work and what they are. He also talked about on how not to let others get to you or pick on you. Thank you Jon for your presentation. It gave me confidence about myself and when I'm around others. Thank you for coming to Hillsdale. Hope you enjoyed your stay here! Have a good day!!
Great presentation! Jon gave our keynote address to 150 high school students at our Student Transition Conference. At first the students were apprehensive, but became engaged with Jon very quickly. He spoke very candidly about his own personal barriers and how he breaks through them on a daily basis. The use of video clips was an added bonus to Jon's presentation. He knows how to captivate his audience. Jon left a good impression on our students and set the tone for the remainder of the conference.
I’m a little more biased in my depiction of Jon—I’ve known him since he entered my classroom at the age of six. He has always impressed me with his ability to integrate into the world of the able-bodied.
Jon is very adept at speaking from his heart. He creates a rich, powerful story that leaves the audience with a lot of hope and a lesson: Don't judge me until you've taken a ride in my chair! Jon's accomplishments and abilities are a real inspiration, and he tells about his life and learning with humor and a big emphasis on dignity. I highly recommend Jon for both small 'chats' in classroom-type situations as well as keynote speaking gigs. Very worthwhile connection!
